Charity Golf Tournament at La Zagaleta
(10 junY 2017)

The German speaking branch of the Lions Club in Marbella once again organised a charity golf tournament in Los Barrancos golf course at La Zagaleta on behalf of the Concordia HIV/AIDS charity in the Costa del Sol.

With the layout of the course being almost mountainous the use of the buggies generously offered for the tournament by the Marbella Tech Angels was welcomed by the players.

Participants were also offered some delicious snacks to help them keep their energy up throughout the day. These had been generously sponsored by the Nowinta Vermögensverwaltung company who had specifically flown from Germany to take part in the tournament as well as by Mr. and Mrs. Günther Kreis from the Lions Club and by Mr. Walter Fischer and his team from Immo Car Gallery in San Pedro de Alcantara.

Sixty three golfers from various nationalities took part in the tournament; Mr Walter Fischer handed out some fabulous prizes to the proud winners which he had generously donated, as well as presenting the top prize which had been donated by the Art Wanson Gallery.

The evening banquet which took place at the clubs headquarters consisting of cocktails, tapas and dinner was organised by Princess Marie-Louise of Prussia, president of Concordia and honorary member of the Lions Club’s German speaking branch, Mrs. Teresa Muñoz de Martín, director of the Concordia Day Centre in San Pedro de Alcántara, and a number of helpful volunteers.

The end result for all the hard work was an amazing evening enjoyed by over two hundred guests, who were welcomed with a refreshing cocktail followed by tapas and champagne which had been generously donated by the Lion Club member Mr. Klaus Hammer and the Gran de Select Brewery in Manilva who regaled those present with their special beer which is made using the champenoise method. The guests were then led to their dinner tables which had been dressed in impeccable white linen and were laid out around the swimming pool; the delicious four course meal had been prepared by the Estudio Gastronómico of Marbella..

Princess Marie- Louise of Prussia thanked all those present for attending the banquet and expressed her most sincere gratitude to those who had contributed to the event by donating generously, the jewellery designer Tamara Comolli and Laguna Village among many others them. She then went onto say that their amazing generosity had concluded in the German speaking branch of the Lions Club being able to hand over to Concordia a 20,000 euros cheque for their charity.
The celebrations continued late into the night where guests enjoyed dancing under an Andalusian moonlit sky to the tunes of Javier & Menchu a duet who are currently performing at the Marbella Club Hotel.
